Service Technician – Mississauga, Ontario

Blastrac® is the global leader in portable surface preparation technologies and equipment.  We develop and manufacture environmentally safe shot blasting, grinding, polishing, scarifying, scraping and milling equipment. Blastrac equipment and systems have become the industry standard and are designed for surface preparation of asphalt roads and runways, concrete, steel, brick, stone, and other substrates in industrial, commercial and residential settings.  

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a motivated, highly skilled Service Technician to join the Blastrac team in our Mississauga location. If you are hardworking, entrepreneurial, and dedicated individual driven to succeed, Blastrac is a great fit for you.  The Service Technician will provide professional service to repair Blastrac’s shot blasting and grinding equipment, provide technical support for customers and will work closely with the inside and outside sales team to grow our repair and rental equipment business in the Ontario market place.


  • Accurately diagnose, trouble shoot and repair various shot blasting and grinding equipment used in both concrete and steel surface preparation applications
  • Ensure the service department/shop is safe and clean and all safety policies are followed
  • Supervise all repairs and ensure completion in accordance with Blastrac’s and other manufacturer’s specifications and customer requests
  • Assist in growing the rental and repair business
  • Ensure all service activities and technical issues are properly documented
  • Prepare all repair and rental related reports
  • Perform various equipment inspections for rental equipment
  • Assist Regional Sales Manager in develop long term high quality business relationships with customers by consistently exceeding their expectations
  • Coordinate and schedule in-shop repairs, service calls and equipment rentals
  • Provide hands on training and commissioning for new customers in the proper operation and maintenance of equipment as directed by Regional Sales Manager
  • Advise customers on equipment and tooling selection for various types of substrate preparation
  • Electrical repair and assembly of motor control circuits in single and three phase voltages up to 600V
  • Determine and complete warranty claims as required
  • Research and provide appropriate power requirements for customers and the sales department on auxiliary equipment such as generators, power transformers and power cabling
  • Provide product and sales support and service for walk-in customers
  • Responsible for coordinating all shipping/receiving of products and ensure the accuracy of all orders sent out or arranged for customer pick-up
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Operate lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas


  • 5 years’ experience in a related Mechanical/Electrical field. Exceptional mechanical and electrical aptitude a must.  Technical diploma preferred (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Experience reading schematics, drawing and service manuals
  • Good working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code
  • An accountable and responsible personality, delivering superior customer service and has a positive can-do attitude
  • Working knowledge of single phase and three phase electrical systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required to job sites
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills
